About Into The Deep

Into The Deep brings the worlds deep ocean to your laptop. We teach participants about four distinct deep sea marine habitats, show the impact which human behaviour has on them. Then we train users in a new web-based image analysis tool, know as BiiGLE PARTY, to make species observations in sea floor images. Results feed into ongoing research, and users gain a deeper understanding of marine conservation policy and agency through their participation. Our outputs will encourage more collaboration to protect our valuable marine ecosystems.

FAQs

Sounds great! When can I try it out?

We’re working on the first prototype of the BiiGLE PARTY Software. We should have a trial version of this by January, 2024. Would you like to help us test it? Great! Get in touch on rhianon@inter-change.eu or leave us a message via the contact form.

Are you going to do more ecosystems? Or just 4?

It Into the Deep wants to support as many datasets as possible, but it’s important that each one is accompanied by some information about that ecosystem. For this project, we will develop 4 short courses so that when you begin working on a dataset, you’re already something of an expert! But in the future, who knows…
